Scientific Project Creation & Management: Third Day - Writing Project Applications

Working on and with a project description was the topic of today. First, some input about the structure of a project proposal was discussed. For me it was interesting, that the summery is the most important part. This is mostly read first by the penal. I also recognize that there was a misunderstanding in the course preparation. The main goal of this course is writing a project description, which should be founded afterwards.

In the afternoon the individual project descriptions were investigated – each by three people. The outcome was a anonymous feedback to each author considering following questions:

  • Originality in the form of scientific innovation and/or the development of new knowledge.
  • Whether the research question, hypotheses and objectives have been clearly and adequately specified.
  • The strength of the theoretical approach, operationalization and use of scientific methods.
  • Documented knowledge about the research front.
  • The degree to which the scientific basis of the project is realistic.
  • The scientific scope in terms of a multi- and interdisciplinary approach, when relevant.

Based on this feedback, improvements on the own project description will follow.
